The "AI Combats Homelessness" project aims to combat homelessness on an international scale through the innovative use of AI. It is based in Silicon Valley and San Francisco, where homelessness remains one of the city's most pressing issues. Via this contest, we invite innovative minds from both, companies and academic institutions, to propose cutting-edge AI solutions aimed at preventing homelessness and addressing its underlying causes. Participants are encouraged to develop projects that leverage the latest technologies to promote clean urban environments, support individuals struggling with addiction, and create sustainable pathways out of homelessness. By harnessing AI capabilities, projects can analyze data patterns, predict at-risk individuals, and recommend tailored interventions. For example, a proposed system could utilize AI to optimize social service resource allocation, ensuring that those in need receive timely support, housing, and rehabilitation services.
Through this contest, we not only encourage innovative solutions but also contribute to the broader mission of building healthier and more sustainable communities. Together, we can cultivate safer, cleaner, and more inclusive communities while effectively reducing the prevalence of homelessness.
Submission Directions for the AI Combats Homelessness Contest
We invite interested participants to submit their innovative projects aimed at combating homelessness through the use of artificial intelligence. Please follow the guidelines below for your submission:
- Eligibility: The contest is open to both companies and students. All submissions must focus on using AI solutions to prevent homelessness, address addiction issues, and promote clean urban environments.
- Submission Format:
- Proposals must be submitted as a PDF document, including, name, contact information, email, phone number, university, a project overview, objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, and how the project utilizes the latest innovations in AI.
- The document should not exceed 2 paragraphs, including any graphs or visual aids.
- Please include a cover page with the project title, team members' names, contact information, and affiliation (company/university). All entry fees are nonrefundable.
- Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted by March 2, 2025 11:59 PM (PST)
- Evaluation Criteria: Submissions will be assessed based on innovation, feasibility, potential impact on homelessness and addiction issues, and clarity of presentation.
- Award Winner Announcement: Winners will be announced on April 9, 2024, with prizes awarded to the top solutions.
- A portion of the profits generated from the AI Combats Homelessness contest will be allocated to organizations dedicated to addressing homelessness, addiction prevention, and education. By supporting these vital initiatives, we aim to create a positive impact on the lives of those affected by these issues. The funding will help these organizations expand their outreach programs, provide essential resources, and implement educational initiatives that empower individuals to break the cycle of homelessness and addiction.
